I have a friend with an e36 328i that's having trouble with the convertible top. He assumes the motor needs replaced but isn't sure, anyone know of anyplace local with a good reputation that I could direct him to?

Best Motor Werks on 5th Ave.

Ask for John or Anson and tell them Kale sent him over. They specialize in BMW's.  614 236 5151

TriTex in Grandview (disclaimer: my wife works there) - 1390 Holly Ave - (614) 294-8511 -  http://www.tritexcorp.com/

J&J in Franklinton - 212 South Glenwood Avenue - (614) 221-4750 - http://www.jandjautoupholstery.com/

A-Tec - 2046 Eakin Rd - (614) 272-5217 - http://www.atecupholstery.com/

Please be wary that on many of the BMW's it's not always a simple issue. There may be multiple motors, micro switches, and body control units within the top operating system and tracking down the culprit without just guessing and throwing parts at it takes experience. Make sure you go with a company that has a lot of experience with BMW's.
