The Stanberry Cup will be held on 9/30/17!!!

For those who don't know, this event is held in honor of Lynn Stanberry, a former autocrosser who sadly passed away from breast cancer.  This event highlights the ladies who participate in OVR, and also serves as a fundraiser for breast cancer research.

We will be holding a raffle and a bake sale to raise money.  If anyone has an item that they would like to donate for the raffle (gift certs, auto products, anything!) or would like to get their bake on, please let me know!

Please be sure to invite all of the ladies in your life to come and race and/or spectate.  Please also BRING LOTS OF CASH!!!  We didn't get to hold this event last year, so let's make it twice as nice this year  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Alan is donating to the raffle a deluxe drawing of one's car. I won this prize a couple of years ago. Fantastic prize!

Hold onto your helmets friends. I've finally convinced Taylor to come and see just how much fun it is to stand in a parking lot all day!

How about we try and ease new females into running. After the meeting, have new female drivers, do a parade lap at half speed. Either with drivers with a couple years under their belts, or another female ride with them. Simi, Tonya, Carol, Lori...there are others though. Part of the intimidation is going out to run for time, and not really knowing how to run it. Yes there is the novice walk, but it doesn't sink in, until you are out there. Lori wouldn't be out there if it wasn't for the driver's school we had. Most are probably scared of embarrassing themselves of not knowing what to do. Lori felt horrible one year because she got 3 DNF's and wanted to quit.
Just something to think about.

Tami hasn't quite got as good as she's going to get but she said she would be willing to do this.  Of course I would too but my experience is limited though I don't think I do too bad.

I love this idea!  I had considered some sort of benefit to the ladies who show that day, like an extra run or something Smiley But I agree that a lot of the problem for newbies is the fear factor.

Here is the link to register.

If you decide to help new female drivers with something like a parade lap or two, you should officially announce it before registration ends. It shouldn't take too long, as there might not be too many to sign up.

Weather for Saturday - 66 degrees and Sunny  0% chance of precip.

Fun run for Sunday

Sorry Simi, I'm not sure I'll ever convince her... you likely have a MUCH better chance at winning that fight. My codriver is a long-time regular, and not a female, sry to disappoint.

Season points have been uploaded to the site, but your guess is as good as mine where to find it on there. Website is being sluggish this evening and I can't find the link on the site to verify it looks good. Regardless, we'll have a printout in the morning.

Awesome!

Results have been posted, and season points are a link within the photo on http://ovr-scca.org/results/autocross/. The final results aren't quite so final, because I did two drops but realized after uploading that it's probably only dropping one because it's counting the PE4 which we cancelled. We'll get it figured out tomorrow when there's people there that know more about this than me Smiley

Thanks also to everyine who donated!

Carol, you did great! I've been to about 15 years worth of Stanberry events with OVR, and this one was awesome! I got sidetracked on car issues personally, but I'm all aspects, great event OVR & great charity results!

Thrilled I could get Dave back into a run-of-the-mill stock corvette too!

Lastly, Aaron & Trevor... slow down, thx.

Even though this is technically from today's fun runs I thought I'd post it. Remember, if you think a ride along in the Big Red Ford is a slow walk in the park, you will be surprised sometimes with the angry run. Some days she's a little testy when the grip is minimal, the driver is a maniac, and there is a whole winter to fix what gets broke things get ugly. Real ugly. Guess who was the passenger for the "Angry Run".

I think it's awesome that you bring her out Ron, she looks pretty composed  (from watching on saturday), it's amazing how well such a big car does out there. Smiley

The photographers have sent us their pictures, but our web admin has been busy with work so he hasn't had a chance to post them on the website yet. They should be up by the end of the week.
