Well everyone, looks like we have effectively lost our site for 2021. NTR only has one date we can use next year so we will need to find another site. I've been looking for another site but I haven't really found anyone that will even respond so far.  If we are going to have a season next year then Dan and I will need a lot of help to find a new site.

What about Tuttle mall since it is rumored to be closing? Or maybe the Verizon building on Britton parkway in Hilliard you can see from 270?  I drive past there on my way to work and there havenít been more than 10 cars in the parking lot since covid started.  I donít know about light poles or islands but it is a huge empty building with a big parking lot.

Tuttle could be a possibility but there are some potential challenges. There are quite a few islands but I think we could probably work around them. However, I would be very surprised if that retail space goes unused. That part of the city is one of the more modern so I doubt it's going to sit empty. We would need a contact and some kind of connection with them or it's going to be a tough road.

I did look at the Verizon buildings in that area and none of them have big enough lots to support what we do.

I know everyone isn't following the Facebook conversation but we have leads on a lot in Obetz (formerly Ohio Fair Auto Auction), the Fortress (formerly Columbus Motor Speedway) and the lots at Ohio State. Nothing is certain but we have some leads and connections.

2021 Site Update

Great news for our site search. We have a tentative agreement with Fortress Obetz to use their parking lot for our events for 2021. Their site is owned and operated by the Village of Obetz and has asphalt pavement that is approximately two years old. The lot is surrounded by concrete curb and a fence but is otherwise clear of any obstructions over the entire surface of the lot. The usuable lot size is right around 240,000 square feet with approximately 190,000 square feet that can be used for the competition surface. While the total size is slightly smaller than NTR, the entirety of the pavement is smooth with virtually no defects, damage or loose gravel. The Fortress site is managed by Steven Adams who works for the Village of Obetz. The attached map shows the tentative layout and use of the site. This is a tentative layout but gives us the general idea of how we would use the site.

The dates are in discussion but we are hoping to start in mid April. Due to the site being a busy sports complex the majority of the dates will be on Sundays and our season would wrap up on August 1st.  The site does allow for more spectators and Steve does expect that we will have more since this site is the former Columbus Motor Speedway.

As we have updates for the new site and schedule I'll post them here.
